Didn't get the FitBit in the mail yesterday... mail didn't pick it up as was estimated. Now the predicted date of delivery is Thursday. I'm not letting it get me down, I know it is on the way.

I'm reading your comments. Thanks for understand why something seemingly so trivial to many is a big deal to me.

New FitBit is on the way. This time I ordered the Luxe version with the stainless steel base so I don't have to worry about the plastic cracking. I did get a good 3 years out of the last one though (it was a gift and helped me immensely through a tough time). FitBit gave me a 35% discount so I was able to get this better model at a lower price than their cheapest version, so this is good!

I missed a great week of walking weather this week without it. I could have absolutely walked without the FitBit, but I couldn't help but hyperfixate on the fact that I wasn't getting those steps logged and it ruined my mood. I got a a few miles a couple times and will again today- but it's nothing like the at least 10 miles I try to get every day.

What really had me in the dumps about it breaking was what that device represented to me. How I used it to conquer depression- being able to focus on the FitBit challenges I was in, instead of staying at home wallowing in dark thoughts. What may seem like a mere material object to many was far more than that, to me. Some turn to alcohol, I redirected my energies to something really healthy and it was one of the greatest periods of time left 2020 (while the world was shut down- I walked my ass off and felt like a champion).

I am glad you're able to get a new one, even better at a discounted price.

While I don't have a Fitbit I do have a device that is similar to it for Android and while mine was being fixed I simply could not do my regular workout routines without it due to the same motivations. I need to physically see my progress. Otherwise it just does work for me.

YAY! I am glad you were able to get new one and remedy the issue! I get the need for the actual item... we do have emotions towards material objects. It is normal. I am over sentimental and have a serious issue not wanting to get rid of objects because of that. Don't get me wrong, I am not hoarder, I do not hold on to a stick or newspaper because I may need it. It is more like baby clothes, their favorite toy from when they were babies.... things my grandparents gave me..... things like that. I have gotten a bit better over the years with it because I realize it to be an issues, but sometimes when I force myself to let go of something it brings me major sadness for a bit.

My FitBit is broken. Anyone who knows me knows how big of a deal this is. It’s a part of my daily life and mental health maintenance. Sure I can still walk without it- but it’s the motivational community in being in those FitBit challenges and SEEING your numerical results. To me, this has taken away a part of me. That sounds stupid to some people, I get it… but you aren’t me and you don’t live my life.

I completely understand how you feel. Small things in our daily routine can have a big impact on our mental health and wellbeing. It's not silly to feel like a part of you is missing when something like your FitBit breaks. It's great that you have found something that motivates you and helps you stay active. Perhaps, in the meantime, you can try finding alternative ways to track your progress or participate in fitness challenges. Although it may not be the same as having your FitBit, it might still provide a sense of community and motivation. Remember, it's important to prioritize our mental health and do what works best for us individually.

That's not going to work for me. I'm pretty particular.

Appreciate the "ups"... but I am just going to hate life until I replace it. NO, not the advice I'd give someone else, but it's me.
